The 438-5386 Diesel Fuel Water Filter Separator Assembly is used as follows: 1. First, shut off the engine and locate the water filter separator assembly. Typically, this component fits under the vehicle’s fuel tank or around the spark plugs. 2. Open the water separator cover and remove the old filter element. 3. Remove the element holder and gasket and clean them. 4. According to the product instructions, install a new filter element on the filter element holder and reinstall the gasket. 5. Reinstall the filter element and seat into the water separator and make sure they are tight. 6. Open the drain valve of the water separator and start the engine. Let the engine run for 5 to 10 minutes until you can confirm that there are no oil and air leaks. Check the filter fastenings to make sure they are all fully tightened, if necessary. 7. Lift the cover, open the drain valve, and close the drain valve. 8. Check fuel filter water separator pressure with a suitable tool.
